About Starlit Tarot

A free, quiet place to pull tarot cards and read what they mean, with no accounts, no paywall and no fortune-telling claims.

How we approach tarot

Tarot began as a 15th-century Italian card game and only picked up its esoteric meanings in 18th- and 19th-century France and England. The meanings used here come from the Rider–Waite–Smith deck of 1909, designed by A. E. Waite and painted by Pamela Colman Smith, which shaped almost every modern deck.

We don't claim the cards predict anything. We think they are good at something else: giving you a vivid, unexpected image to hold up against a situation, which can shake loose a thought you were not letting yourself have.

How it works

Shuffling and drawing happen in your browser with a cryptographic random number generator and the Fisher–Yates shuffle. Card meanings are written by us and are part of the page. The optional AI interpretation sends only the drawn cards, their positions and your question to a language model through Vercel AI Gateway, and only when you press the button.
