Mystic Tarot is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your spiritual journey and tarot readings should remain personal and private.

Data Collection & Storage

What We Collect

• Minimal Data: By default, we collect NO personal information
• Local Storage Only: All your tarot readings, history, and preferences are stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB and localStorage)
• Analytics: We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand site usage (page views, navigation patterns) - no personal identification

What We DO NOT Collect

• No email addresses or contact information
• No account registration required
• No tracking cookies for advertising
• No selling of data to third parties

Browser Storage

Reading History (IndexedDB)

• What: Your past tarot readings, cards drawn, personal notes
• Where: Stored locally in your browser only
• Control: You can export or delete your history anytime
• Privacy: Never sent to our servers

Preferences (localStorage)

• What: UI preferences, notification settings
• Where: Stored locally in your browser
• Control: Cleared when you clear browser data

AI-Enhanced Interpretations

Optional Feature

AI-powered personalized interpretations are opt-in only. You must explicitly click "Get AI Interpretation" to use this feature.

Data Sent to AI Service

When you request an AI interpretation:

• What is sent: Your question/context (if provided), cards drawn, and card positions
• Where: Sent to OpenAI via Vercel AI Gateway for processing
• Purpose: Generate personalized tarot interpretation
• Retention: We do NOT store your questions or AI responses on our servers
• Your control: Only activated when you explicitly request it

Vercel AI Gateway

We use Vercel AI Gateway as a privacy-respecting intermediary:

• Manages API calls to OpenAI
• No additional data collection beyond OpenAI's processing

OpenAI Processing

When you use AI interpretations, your question/context is processed by OpenAI's API:

• Used only to generate your interpretation
• Subject to OpenAI's API Data Usage Policy
• OpenAI does not use API data to train models

Third-Party Services

Ahrefs Web Analytics

• Purpose: Understand how people use our site (page views, popular features)
• Data Collected: Page URLs, referrer, browser type, general location (country/city)
• No Personal Identification: Cannot identify individual users
• Privacy-Focused: No advertising cookies

Vercel Hosting

• Our site is hosted on Vercel
• Standard server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps) for security and performance

Your Rights & Control

Access Your Data

All your tarot reading data is in your browser. Use browser developer tools to access IndexedDB/localStorage.

Export Your Data

Use the "Export History" feature in the History section to download your readings as JSON.

Delete Your Data

• Reading History: Use "Clear History" in the History section
• All Local Data: Clear your browser's site data for starlit-tarot.com

Opt-Out of Analytics

Use browser extensions (e.g., uBlock Origin) or privacy-focused browsers to block analytics.

Children's Privacy

Mystic Tarot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.

International Users

Your browser-stored data stays on your device. When using AI interpretations, data is processed by services in the United States.
